Types of Hosts in Parasitology | Microbiology | Host and Parasite | Basic Science Series
1. Definitive Hosts
- Definition: Hosts in which a parasite reaches maturity and reproduces sexually.
- Examples:
- Humans for Plasmodium species (malaria).
- Dogs for Echinococcus granulosus (tapeworm).
2. Intermediate Hosts
- Definition: Hosts in which a parasite undergoes development but does not reach maturity.
- Examples:
- Snails for Schistosoma species.
- Mosquitoes for Plasmodium species.
3. Paratenic (Transport) Hosts
- Definition: Hosts that carry the parasite to another host without undergoing any development.
- Examples:
- Rodents for Toxocara canis (dog roundworm).
- Birds for Alaria species.
4. Reservoir Hosts
- Definition: Hosts that harbor parasites and act as sources of infection for other susceptible hosts.
- Examples:
- Wild mammals for Trypanosoma cruzi (Chagas disease).
- Dogs for Leishmania species (leishmaniasis).
5. Accidental Hosts
- Definition: Hosts in which a parasite is not normally found, leading to atypical or dead-end infections.
- Examples:
- Humans for Toxocara canis (toxocariasis).
- Humans for Echinococcus granulosus (hydatid disease).
6. Aberrant Hosts
- Definition: Hosts in which a parasite infects an unusual location or species, causing severe or atypical symptoms.
- Examples:
- Humans for Echinococcus granulosus (hydatid cysts in brain or bones).
- Humans for Angiostrongylus cantonensis (severe neurological symptoms).

Thank you 😄
it help me in summer vacation Thanks a lot.
Yes it was helpful. Thank you
Very comprehensive. Would you please explain the mechanism of IL 23-IL 17? Thank you.
really liked it, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Biotechnology to the world 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Thanks for the comment 👍🏼 😀
Thank you very very much
Thank you for appreciating
Loved the video mann
Your comment made my day 🙏🏼🙏😊
thank you!
You're welcome!
Good video. Fonts are too small.
Thanks will work on that 👍🏼
Thanks for your advise
So nice of you
This is really useful video for me
Glad to hear that
Sir, Need data to analyse elisa data.
Yes you can use graph pad
Thank you so much for the video 🎉
You are so welcome!
show sticks, by res all within 5 ligand i was write according to your information but residues not coming, in your video it is also not clear, can you please give me detail
Can you provide more details on the issue what command you are following ??
First of all , Hatsoff to you sir. making videos even even though you're being sick . That's a very nice explanation. I would request you to upload a complete lecture video for all the Antibodies and their subtypes with their function and comparison. It would be great if you make a comparison table between them, as its more easy to understand and make a comparison though.
So nice of you! Thank you so much 🙏🙏
thankyou you slayed
Thanks for your feedback 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Good video
Thanks for your comment and feedback 👍🏼
The tutorial was absolutely fantastic and made to involve more but I could not find the link for the continuation of this video regarding labelling for each residue,, can anyone share the continuation of this video link plzz
Will try to make more useful more, stay tuned for more 🙏🏻🙏🏻Thank you
Good job
Thanks for your feedback 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Can we save in animation format?
I am not sure on that.. however you can create movies
❤❤❤❤❤❤
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank You❤
Thank you so much for appreciating! Means alot 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great vedio.God Bless u, sir
Thank you so much for appreciating! Means alot 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Get to the point ughh
Thank you for your comment! I hope you will find what you are looking for. Thanks for watching the video and posting your feedback.
But how does the technique know where exactly is the mutation ?
In this case we screen for mutilation, for identifying a location of new mutation we need to first find its by using other methods like NGS
This is amazing, easy and clear ! Thank you
Thank you so much for appreciating! Means alot 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video searching for it since weeks Very good explanation
Thank you so much for appreciating! Means alot 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love it
Thank you so much 💐 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Sorry I don't understand the part at 2:00 where you explain which bases pair with the others but you explain it like it's the mRNA that goes pairing with the tRNA when I thought it's the other way around: tRNA searches for the mRNA sequences to pair. For example: if a codon is A-A-U the anticodon (tRNA) could be A-A-(A/G) and not the other way around. I hope I was clear. Thanks in advance for an answer.
Excellent way to put it that way. Thank you for detailed elaboration. As we know that mRNA with will be fixed with the translational machinery so I Won't use the word search around for either trna or mrna. In cytoplasm the molecules are made available by the protein and its not that straightforward process. Reseach is still going on these aspects.
You write without understanding what you are explaining
Thanks for your feedback. Ya its not perfect but keep watching you may get used to it : )
🙏 *PromoSM*
😊
I would love one on mastic gum
Interesting 👍🏼
Does taking MASTIC GUM POWDER CANCEL out the probiotics I take , I hope you respond to my question this was so very helpful THANK YOU 🙏
Is this a spam? I can't understand
Kindly lose the fake accent. It's cringy and annoying. Your original accent is fine
Thanks for the comment 👍🏼
Thank you so much for this!! I keep listening to TwiM and I keep hearing them referring to quorum sensing, now I will have a better understanding of what they’re referring to!
Thank you so much for appreciating! Means alot 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Clauster di differenziazione sono cime la chiave e la serratura.
🙏👍🏼👍🏼
PDB has changed a bit since this video , i want to see how many b and a helix are in a protein and it doenst show anymore on the section sequence. How do i find it ?
You are absolutely right, I will try to make an updated video on the same 👍🏼🙏
this guy seriously read off of Wikipidea. not good
Thank you for this great explanation but you have shown the protein part of MHC, where is the carbohydrate part within the molecule? Thanks again 😊
The carbohydrate part of the MHC molecule is integral to its structure and function, aiding in antigen presentation and immune recognition. Will discuss this soon, stay tuned Thanks! 😊
6:00 OMG it's a Leucine not a Lysine.
Thanks for the information!
Wait but then how do these multiprotein complexes distinguish between endogenous and “strange” peptides in order to load them to MHC1? Increased transport rate or proteasome stimulated activity might be confused with some physiological acute stimuli, am I wrong? Great video btw! Keep on this, sending support from Spain!
Absolutely! Cells have mechanisms to ensure accurate peptide loading onto MHC class I molecules, despite potential confusion from increased transport rates or proteasome activity. Thanks for your support from Spain! 😊🇪🇸
Class room ❌you tube✅
Thanks!
Was diagnosed two years ago & told it’ll just “go away” which is a lie. Been cleansing ever since. Found oregano oil in high potency 💊 form is the only thing that has helped. The “die off” is causing constipation & fatigue so taking a break but will pair it with either serrapeptase, berberine or both to get rid of it once & for all. Thank you for explaining the cysts cycle because I knew it was causing havoc in my small intestines.
Thanks for the information.
I like how concise this video is. Great for introductions to this topic without going overboard and overwhelming students!
Glad you think so!
Great explanation, understood 🎉
Glad it was helpful!
Good work, thank you
Thank you too!
